This Butterfly House Wedding is where tradition meets whimsy.

Paul and Madi’s intimate wedding blended elements of a garden party with Pacific Island culture. Paul is from Fiji and it was so fun watching him infuse his homeland into this Missouri celebration! In this blog, you’ll see their day at The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House at Missouri Botanical Gardens through my eyes. Next, you’ll also get ideas for incorporating your own traditions into your wedding of any size! You’ll love this look into such a fun, vibrant, and joyful day.

The florals are from Roses & Mint (my personal wedding florist!) and I am absolutely obsessed with them! All the flowers were locally sourced. This is an important detail to Madi as she seeks to be eco-conscious. The flowers are inspired by a mix of a Pacific sunset and a whimsical garden, specifically including the Dahlia flower. There were both vibrant and pale colors present for a very tone-on-tone look full of corals, pinks, and greens. They executed the vision well! If you’re looking for a florist in the St. Louis area, you need to consider Roses & Mint!

In addition to florals, sustainability also played a role in choosing a caterer and cake. Whisk did an amazing job with the cake setup and Seed Sprout Spoon put on a fabulous feast! Choosing sustainable vendors goes a long way in cutting down on waste on your wedding day.

Like many couples, family played an important role in Paul and Madi’s day.

Madi’s mother served as a wedding planner and coordinated many little details throughout the day. For example, there were so many thoughtful little elements that she helped pull together, as you’ll see below. Everything looked impeccable from the place settings to the unique drink bar.

Paul’s mother flew in from Fiji for the wedding. Having her there was special to the groom and everyone watching the day unfold. She crossed great distances to be there for her son. Throughout the day, they incorporated traditional Pacific Island details such as Paul’s outfit, custom made in the tradition of Fiji.
