Today was a day of mourning and sadness in our country and in the lives of so very many people. Moms, dads, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, friends… so many lives have been shattered today because of one person’s selfish actions. It breaks my heart to see such evil and violence in this world. My only hope is my steadfast Savior who is in control at all times.
He suffers when we suffer.
Our country’s cry is filled with desperation and hopelessness. We are missing something. Something isn’t right. We have this emptiness in our hearts that can only be filled with one thing. We try to fulfill ourselves with money, with relationships, with busyness, with violence… and nothing quite satiates that thirstiness, that need. Our hearts cry out for Him, for Jesus, yet we attempt to muffle those cries with such petty things. It’s all meaningless. We wonder what could drive people to commit such horrific acts…it’s because they are desperate. They need Jesus. We all need Him. I need Him more than anyone. Oh, that we would just recognize our need and stop trying to do the right things on our own. We can’t without Him. But when we are weak, Christ is strong. We need His strength today; to endure this tragedy, to find peace and comfort, and to daily make the right choices.
And with all that being said, I must say that I love my friends and family so very dearly. Today I clung just a little bit tighter to the people I love because I was ever more aware of the brevity of life. How incredibly grateful I am that I will get to see these people in Heaven someday. That no matter what, those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior have hope for eternity.
“And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in You.” Psalm 39:7
These are a few precious images from last week. They aren’t perfect, by any means, but they are cherished and mean so much to me. My sweet sister, making gingerbread men, enjoying life, filled to the brim with excitement about Christmas. I love viewing life through her happy, innocent eyes. I love capturing and remembring these moments.
Absolutely beautiful…and the pictures too. ;)
she’s adorable! a mini you. :) amen. christ is strong, and the only one who can really hold our country together! I think a lot of people,( me included. ) clung on to family-love yesterday. something we can never take for granted. x
These are beautiful moments captured on camera, Jessica. :) So very precious…
The Lord suffers indeed. He suffers because the church has lost the fear of God.
I think as Christians, it is our responsibility to take a stand for righteousness sake, and to let people know that hope is not lost, but can be found in Christ alone. (John 4:16)
