If any of y’all follow me on Instagram, you know I was in Banff, Canada a few weeks ago pretty much living the dream – I won’t lie. Banff is one of those places that doesn’t even feel real. I truthfully have never been more in awe of creation then in that place. That being said… when you photograph people in love for a living and are in one of THE most stunning places on the planet, all you want to do is take photos of a couple!
Enter in Sarah and Dave. I’ll be honest, y’all, it’s a wonder these two didn’t think I was completely nuts from the get go. We would being typical tourists and I was in a souvenir store buying some fun t-shirts for the fam, and I couldn’t help but notice a darling couple doing the same thing. We were deliberating over the same shirts – so I *knew* they had good taste, of course. They were so darn cute. And they were definitely tourists too so I figured their schedule might be flexible. I struggled for a good five minutes over whether I should be a total stalker and ask them to model for me, and in a rush of courage I handed Andrea all of my stuff and walked up to them. The conversation went as follows:
Me: Hi! I know this is really weird, but can I ask you a random and kind of odd question?!
Sarah: I’m ready for it, shoot!
Me: Okay, so I’m a wedding photographer and I’ve been dying to photograph a couple here in Banff because – hello – it’s incredible. And you two are completely adorable. So I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing a photo shoot tomorrow?
And well… obviously they didn’t think I was too crazy, because here we are. ;) I’m super grateful for rushes of courage but also grateful that these two were SO incredible and willing to shoot with us! We truly couldn’t have picked a better couple if we tried. Dave and Sarah were such sweethearts and we could have chatted with them for hours! Not to mention they are absolutely darling. Plus they ended up with some fun portraits in one of the most magical places on the planet! I’d call that a win all around. ;)
Our motto for the entire trip was “When in Canada!”, and I think I need to start applying that more to life in general. It never hurts to just go for it sometimes… you never know what rad things could happen! So here’s a little anniversary session in the mountains of Canada. I hope you guys are as obsessed with these two as I am!
Much love,
Jessica Lauren
