These two. Where do I even begin? I’ll try to sum this day up in as few words as possible to let the photos do the talking – but we’ll see how that goes. Do you ever look back at scenarios in life that in the moment you thought were the worst – but it ended up being the greatest blessing in the end? Well, that’s exactly how I met Blake and Anna. I had a styled shoot planned with the sweetest planner in St. Louis (who has since moved – so sad!), and last minute our models were unable to come. *Cue the panic* Luckily after days of brainstorming and trying to figure out plan B, she found Blake and Anna. And from the moment I met these two, I just knew they were something special.
Anna is full of joy – really & truly, and is the biggest blessing to each person she meets. She literally glows with life and her excitement level to get married was off the charts – my favorite kind of bride! And Blake? Well, Blake is a one of a kind human being. He is steadfast, strong, and kind. Together these two are an incredible pair – one of those couples that you know just makes one another stronger and more incredible (if that’s even possible). Getting to know these two over the course of the past year has been the biggest blessing. Needless to say, I was absolutely honored to be their photographer and was counting down the days until their wedding!
In the week leading up to the wedding I started checking the forecast and had a feeling we were going to be in for a treat – 100% chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Not exactly news any bride and groom (or photographer) wants to hear! But friends, Blake and Anna never ONCE complained about the insane weather on their wedding day – we’re talking flooding and torrential downpours – it was no joke!! They had the BEST attitudes about everything and because of it we were able to create of my most favorite images to date!!
The Stone Chapel at Matt Lane Farm couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for this Blake and Anna’s beautiful, rainy day!! I mean truly – could it be any more stunning?! Everyone came together and worked so hard to make this day an absolute dream and I couldn’t have pictured it any other way!
At the end of the day, it didn’t matter what the weather was like. Anna didn’t care that the bottom of her dress got wet or that there was huge rumbles of thunder mid-ceremony. The only thing that mattered was that at the end of the day – these two were married. A forever covenant that will last throughout decades of time.
And that, my friends, is the greatest gift of all. I’m so grateful to share this beautiful wedding on the blog today and hope that these images reveal even just a glimpse of the sweet love these two share.
These details! Be still my heart.
One of my favorite moments from Saturday was this. Quietly watching these two read their letters to one another on their wedding day – as every emotion from laughter to chocked back tears washed over them. Anna looked at me after their first look and said, “Jessica, I can’t imagine NOT doing a first look and not having this time with Blake.” This is why first looks will always have my heart.
Bride and groom portraits!!
This bridal party was the best!!! They were trooper and we knocked these out in less than 10 minutes before the sky opened up once more!
How rad are these clear umbrellas?! I think rainy wedding days might be my new favorite thing.
Can’t get enough of these two. So obsessed with these!
I absolutely adore this next set of images of Anna and her Dad. So precious!
They’re married!!!
The dream team that made this day such a breeze!!
