Over the past year I’ve worked hard on starting my own business. Almost exactly a year ago I created a Facebook page without any idea of how to start a business, guide a photoshoot, have a fluency to my editing, or attract clients. I was about as lost and uninformed as you can get!
And even now there are times when I’m frustrated with where I am. Always wanting that lens, this many shoots lined up, better equipment, new software… it truly never ends. But today I am thankful for where I am. Because I am leaps and bounds farther than I ever could have imagined at this time last year. Because God has been faithful and kept His promise to do things “far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). That’s the kind of God I serve. A God who exceeds my greatest expectations. A God who brings good out of every situation, because I love Him. A God who grows, provides, gives grace, and brings hope.
These past few months I haven’t written anything very personal or near to my heart. I’ve been afraid of giving too much of my own opinion and fearing man’s rejection of my words & images. But this little part of the internet is moving in a new direction and starting fresh once again. My desire is to be more honest and authentic, to share pictures of life and words of meaning. To excitingly post images from recent shoots but also be content when they are simply photos of my everyday.
I’ve been working with some wonderful designers on my new logo and spent some time sprucing up this little corner and am so very excited for what this next year has in store! I’m sure God will rock my world even more than I could ever prepare for.
Oh — and these are some images from when my family went to the lake on the 4th. It’s true, lighting paper lanterns and watching them drift away is truly as magical as it appears! You should try it sometime, it’s pretty spectacular.
Have a lovely Wednesday, friends!
